48 Business Hours After Registration

At The VA Disability Advocate, LLC, we provide veteran-focused, evidence-based advocacy to help you secure the VA benefits you earned. With over 25 years of experience and accredited representation, we guide veterans and their families through denied claims, rating increases, and appeals—making complicated VA processes clear and actionable. Our New Client Coordinator, Alyssa Valanas, will contact you within 48 business hours to answer any questions about the intake process and VA forms.

Getting started:

To get started, click on one of our agents in your region and complete the registration form. Immediately check your email for the required VA forms and sign them.

What we need from you (critical forms)

2. VA Form 21-0966 (Intent to File): Filing an Intent to File preserves a potential effective date for benefits for up to one year (38 CFR § 3.155). Submitting this form protects your possible back pay while we gather evidence.

Let’s keep it real:

  • Not every veteran will receive a 100% rating. We pursue the maximum benefit supported by the evidence.

  • A claim must show a nexus (service connection) or a qualifying presumptive basis—service-era statements alone are not enough.

  • Representation helps, but it is not a guarantee or a shortcut; successful claims require teamwork and medical evidence.

  • You are ultimately responsible for helping obtain medical evidence and making it available to your Advocate.

Fees and contingency:

We are a fee-for-service firm that operates on contingency—meaning we are paid when you are paid. Our fees are tiered based on the complexity and number of appeals. We do not charge fees or provide paid advice for new claims until you receive your decision and sign a contingency agreement. Contingency fees are assessed only after we secure an award and are set out in the tiered schedule in your agreement.

1. VA Form 21-22a (Appointment of Individual as Claimant’s Representative): This Power of Attorney (POA) form authorizes an accredited agent—such as Albert L. Thombs Jr.—to prepare, present, and prosecute your claim. Per 38 CFR § 14.631, the VA requires this form to recognize a representative and to permit the release of protected information. We cannot access records or represent you before the VA without your signed POA.
